Managed Care means intervention between a doctor and his or her patient by a third party which aims to direct or influence the treatment of the patient. The system of Managed Care appears to be based on the concept of a Health Fund ('Fund') acting as a 'Health Wholesaler' (or middleman) buying doctors services in advance and on-selling them to patients.
