Furthermore, while AMA Victoria is aware that a trial of real time prescription monitoring will soon commence in our western rural district, we DO NOT accept that the system will necessarily be introduced AND become mandatory from 2020. In fact, AMA Victoria is the only medical organisation that has opposed many of the aspects of Safescript – other organisations like RACGP, the College of Psychiatrists, and addiction and pain medicine representatives, have not (as yet) shown any opposition to Safescript or any obvious concern for their members.
