ADF is thrilled to hear that Dr Kenneth Elliott has been freed and is safe and well in his home in Perth with his family.
Dr Elliott and his wife Jocelyn were kidnapped in January 2016 by Islamic extremists in Burkina Faso, West Africa, where they ran a medical clinic. At the time, ADF urged Australian authorities to do all in their power to secure their release. Mrs Elliott was released three weeks later after diplomatic efforts.
ADF has continued to advocate for Dr Elliott, drawing the attention of politicians and the public to his ongoing captivity, and we are pleased and relieved that there has finally been a resolution. We join all members of the Australian medical profession in welcoming Dr Elliott home, and thank those who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes for many years to bring about his release.
