On Saturday 3 May 2025, the Australian Doctors’ Federation partnered with the Australian Medical Professionals’ Society to present a conference in Sydney entitled The Misdeeds of AHPRA.

In this short presentation, ADF’s Dr Chris Davis outlines the failure of AHPRA to improve the health of Australians, and the damage done to the public’s trust in the medical profession by AHPRA’s undermining of the therapeutic relationship. Under AHPRA’s watch, the cost of medical registration has almost doubled in real terms since 2008, but the burden of disease has only increased, and Australia’s productivity has plummeted in comparison to other OECD nations. Dr Davis calls on doctors to fight to regain regulation of their profession and the right to practise medicine according to their training and clinical judgement, not the dictates of a political quango.
